What is Work Rotation?

Depends on type of work rotation applied by their company, they can work in the morning for several days and then work in the night after that. Their days off vary also. They can have 1, 2, 3 or even one week days off following their working shifts.
Work rotation is common in public services companies, retail stores or manufacturing companies. In public services companies, employees have to serve people for 24 hours in 7 days. In manufacturing companies, employees need to achieve company’s target on manufacturing products. For example, toys companies have to increase their production to support particular events like black Friday or Christmas.
Three shifts per day is a common pattern because it will maintain 8 hours per day for each employees within duration of 24 hours. This pattern is commonly used by retail stores or manufacturing companies. Firefighters generally work in long shifts that include weekends and holidays. Two most common types of shifts for firefighters are 24 hours on followed by 48 hours off, or 12-hour shifts for 3/4 days in a row before having several days off.
